The other day I gave you a round up of free digital books from Craftsy and today I have a round up of free mini classes you can take at Craftsy. What I love about the free mini classes is that you can try out Craftsy for free, decide if you like the video learning format they provide before you spend any money. Once you register for Craftsy and buy any (or all!) of these free mini classes they are yours to keep forever.
I signed up two or three years ago for the Complete Knife Skills free mini course but never got around to taking it until a few months ago. The class is always available and I’ve watched a few lessons over and over now as I work to improve my cooking skills. That’s just one of the free mini classes available for cooking.
Free Knitting Classes
I first discovered Craftsy a few years ago when I was looking for a class to help me with a knitting problem I was having. Although I’ve knit for years and am comfortable with many techniques I was struggling with Kitchener stitch (also known as grafting) and I just could not figure it out from books or even from YouTube videos which showed the technique. I found the free mini class Ins and Outs of Grafting and I was finally able to learn this technique. The instructor explained everything clearly with the step by step lessons and the professional camera work and the interactive forum that allows you and others taking the course to ask questions had me hooked. I’ve since signed up for many of the paid courses as well over the years to help improve my skills and I have never been disappointed.
Free Drawing Classes
I joke that I cannot draw a stick man without a ruler but it’s something I’ve always wanted to learn. I signed up for the free drawing classes but have not taken them yet. I’ve spent the last year working on my knitting and cooking skills through Craftsy classes and this year I will focus more on drawing, painting and maybe sewing.
Free Cooking Classes
I’ve already mentioned the fantastic free knife skills class but there are also free classes on how to make the perfect pizza at home, how to fix cooking mistakes and more.
Free Sewing Classes
Free Embroidery Classes
Free Photography Classes
Free Woodworking Classes
Free Crochet Classes
Free Painting Classes
Free Gardening Classes
Free Paper Crafts Classes
Free Cake Decorating Classes
Here is a full list of 44 free mini classes currently available on Craftsy. I’ve signed up for all of them, even in topics I don’t currently have any interest in, because I know I can always go to Craftsy and view them so if a year or two down the road I want to learn a new skill it’s available to me.
Over the last two or three years I’ve bought several photography classes, cooking classes and more than a dozen of the knitting classes as I work toward getting my masters of hand knitting and I am consistently impressed with the quality of the videos, the skill of the instructors, and the overall level of education and typically for less than the cost of a book or other instruction.
